txt conversion with Adobe DC

Short Instructions:
PART 1
Get Adobe to run ocr (optical character recognition) on your files.  They will still be in pdf, but they will now be readable.

  1. After opening Adobe, open the file you want.
  2. Under “tools” choose “enhance scans” and select “open”
  3. Click “recognize text” text
  4. It will ask if you want to do on or multiple files. I would start with one, then try five at a time and move up to ten if it is working ok.
  5. Click the “recognize text” box
  6. Once this part is done you can move on to part 2.

PART 2
Here you will take the files that you just made “text recognizable” and save and export them as txt files.

  1. Under “tools” select “Action Wizard”
    2. Select “Create new Action.”
  2. A new box will open. Choose “save & export” from its left-hand pane.
    4. Press “save”
    5.  you will see a little plus sign has appeared between the two panes.  Click that plus sign to add it to the right-hand pane.
    6. At the right-hand pane select “Specify Settings”
    7.  A dialog box will open.
  3. Here you can add to the file name and select how you would like to export.  You want to select TXT.
  4. Name and save the Action.
  5. Now you will be back at your document, ready to convert.  You’ll see the name of the action you just made in the right-hand pane. Select that action.
  6. Decide where you want your files to be stored.
  7. Click the “start” button when you are ready.

SHORTHAND:
OCR: Tools–>enhance text–>recognize text–>multiple or single files
CONVERT: Tools -> Action Wizard -> Create new Action
Choose ‘Save & Export’ -> Save -> add to right hand pane.
At right hand pane -> choose folder to process and click ‘Specify Settings’ button to change export format to Text (Plain).
